Dr. Axel Thoma

Axel Thoma has worked with companies like Agility Logistics, Altana, BASF, British American Tobacco, Evonik, Henkel, Mercer, Pfizer, Roche, Siemens, Tetra Pak and Vestas over the past thirteen years, building firm-specific customer engagement programs that drive value creation. He has also developed and delivered customized training and learning solutions in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Axel holds a doctorate degree from the University of St.Gallen in implementing and sustaining global account management. His habilitation focuses on value creation and distribution in international B2B relationships. Special interest topics include value propositions, synergies between sales and innovation, and capability development.

He regularly presents latest research findings at industry and scholarly conferences and is a guest lecturer in executive education programs. He has co-developed the St.Gallen Executive Education Report which explores new frontiers in executive learning and leadership development.

His research has been published in California Management Review, Handelszeitung, HR Today, IO New Management, Research-Technology Management, the European, Wall Street Journal, wirtschaft+weiterbildung. The article Ā«Customer-centric leadership: the rise of the customer general managerĀ» was awarded the 1st place in leading-edge research for B2B practice by ESMT-ISBM in 2012.
